Notice of Mandatory Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD) Reference Number for Imports Into Kenya
Dear Valued Customer,
Please be advised that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has implemented a mandatory Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD) requirement for all containerized cargo destined for Kenyan ports, effective 03 August 2026.
Under this regulation, a 15-digit ACD Reference Code (e.g. ACDKE2026004324) must be obtained before cargo loading and must be clearly reflected on the final Bill of Lading.
How to Obtain the ACD Reference Code
- Register and log in to the KRA ACD Portal.
- Upload the required shipment documents.
- Complete validation by paying the applicable fees.
- Obtain the validated ACD certificate and 15-digit ACD Reference Code.
- Ensure the ACD Reference Code is printed on the final Bill of Lading before shipment.

Please note that failure to obtain or correctly declare the ACD Reference Code may result in customs delays, cargo holds, additional inspections, non-discharge of cargo, and any applicable penalties or fines, which shall be for the customer's account.
