  • Containers exceeding the specified weight limits are classified as overweight containers.
  • If an imported container is found to be slightly overweight, the Port Authority will impose
    penalty charges on the Carriers.
  • For containers identified as overweight, the Port Authority will:
    • Withhold permission for discharging the container.
    • Require the Carrier(s) to submit an undertaking on a non‑judicial stamp, confirming
that all liabilities rest with them in case of mishaps during handling or transportation.
  • Failure to provide the undertaking may result in the container being returned to the port of
    origin (ROB).
  • In such cases, additional charges will apply, including:
❖ SOB (Shifting on Board) charges
    ❖ Port penalties
    ❖ Extra trailer haulage charges
❖ LOLO (Lift On/Lift Off) charges, etc.

For any Awkward or OOG (Out‑of‑Gauge) cargo imports into Bangladesh, the acceptability
